An Important Message from Dr. Tamu Lucero, Superintendent of Stamford Public Schools

Visitors, Except Those Picking Up Meals, Must Make an Appointment Before Coming to Any School Building

SPS Staff and Families:

As we conclude our second week of Distance Learning, I would like to continue to praise our staff and families for their focus and dedication to educating our children. I would also like to share with you an update from the governor, as well as some changes in building procedures that will begin next week.

On Tuesday, March 24, 2020, Governor Lamont signed an executive order mandating that schools in Connecticut remain closed until at least April 20, 2020. Therefore, we should all plan for continued Distance Learning at least through that date.

Additionally, in keeping with the district’s ongoing efforts to combat the spread of the Coronavirus by practicing social distancing, beginning Monday, March 30, 2020, educational staff members, parents, students and all other visitors will only be allowed in our school buildings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

All visitors (students, family or community members) must first make an appointment to enter any Stamford Public Schools building. Each school will post a phone number and e-mail address for scheduling appointments on the news section of their school website and at their main entrance. There will be a designated area to pick up materials near the front entrance or main office at each school. Remember, in order to limit the number of people in any one area of our building, please refrain from interacting or socializing with others while you are onsite. Visitors should arrive at their scheduled time, pick up any requested materials and leave the building.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation, as we all continue to navigate this unchartered territory. Continue to practice all good safety habits and stay well.

Dr. Tamu Lucero, Superintendent Stamford Public Schools
